Rock Hill official will take part in program at Harvard

Rock Hill City Administrator George A. Liyeos has received a Fannie Mae Fellowship to attend a program for state and local government officials at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

The three-week program in June is designed to enhance the management and decision-making skills of state and local government leaders.

The Fannie Mae Foundation Fellowship annually sponsors 35 fellowships for elected and appointed officials, as well as senior managers, to attend the program every year.

Liyeos recently was installed as a board member for the Missouri City Managers Association.

The association is made up of four board members, along with a vice president, president and past-president, for a total of seven officers. The group represents approximately 200 members throughout Missouri.

Liyeos grew up in the St. Louis area and attended Parkway Central High School. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in public administration, both from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
