Lemay Housing Partnership receives $15,000 donation from Safeco

Safeco Corp. and its philanthropic foundation donated $15,000 to Lemay Housing Partnership Inc. in recognition of Linda Eggleston of St. Louis, the company said Thursday.

The company announced 30 Community Hero awards, which recognize community leadership and commitment with a $15,000 donation made to the nonprofit where recipients work.

Lemay Housing Partnership is a nonprofit organization that provides a variety of home improvement opportunities for lower income families in the Lemay area of south St. Louis County.

Community Hero award recipients were recommended by independent agents selling Safeco insurance. Eggleston was nominated by Christine Blood of Charles Meyer Insurance.

Safeco Insurance Foundation also donated a total of $1.8 million to 35 non-profit organizations in six locations -- Atlanta, Dallas, Indianapolis, Seattle, Southern California and Spokane, Wash.

Safeco and its foundation support organizations emphasizing diversity, arts and culture, youth leadership and the environment.
