Cor Jesu Academy breaks ground on addition

Cor Jesu Academy is scheduled to host a groundbreaking and celebratory picnic Wednesday for an expansion of its campus, in south St. Louis County.

Cor Jesu Academy strove for decades to acquire acreage from the Busch family next to the school's campus on Gravois Road. A deal for developer Erickson Retirement Communities of suburban Baltimore to buy 88 acres adjacent to the campus to build a senior living facility allowed Cor Jesu to buy six acres for expansion. The developer also agreed to donate nine acres of common ground to the school. The expansion more than doubles Cor Jesu's existing 13-acre campus.

The expansion celebration runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the school's Alumnae Courtyard.

Founded in 1956, Cor Jesu Academy is a Catholic college preparatory high school for girls.
