St. Anthony's To Open Fourth Area Urgent Care Center
Facility at I-44 And Big Bend expected to be open by next summer
11/23/2007 - St. Anthony's Medical Center will open its fourth urgent care center next summer at Interstate 44 and Big Bend Boulevard, to serve the residents of Kirkwood, Sunset Hills, Crestwood, Webster Groves, Affton and surrounding communities.
Construction began in September 2006, on a two-story, 20,000-square-foot brick building at 10296 Big Bend Blvd. The building is owned by Metropolitan Urological Specialists, who will have offices there. St. Anthony's 5,000-square-foot Big Bend Urgent Care Center will be located on the first floor, along with St. Anthony's primary care physician practices.
"We are excited to be working with St. Anthony's to bring urgent care services to this community," said Roy Robinson, mayor of Crestwood. "With St. Joseph's moving out, the Big Bend Urgent Care will help fill the need of our citizens for immediate medical care, close to home. Due to its location, the urgent care center will be used by residents of not only Crestwood but also the surrounding communities."
St. Anthony's currently operates Urgent Care Centers in Fenton, Arnold and Lemay, so it just made sense to locate a new facility north of the hospital, said Mike Anderson, Director of Urgent Care Centers for St. Anthony's.
"There is a definite need for immediate-care services in this community to provide residents quick, convenient medical care for minor injuries and illnesses," Anderson said.
St. Anthony's Big Bend Urgent Care will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week to treat non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries, such as sprains, fractures, cuts, minor burns, eye injuries, cold and flu symptoms and animal and insect bites.
"When you can't get in to see your doctor and you don't need emergency room care, urgent care is the answer," Anderson said. "We recognize that people today lead busy lives. They don't want to spend a lot of time in a hospital waiting for medical care and they don't want to drive across town to access the care they need. The urgent care center generally is less crowded and less expensive than an emergency department, while offering the same high-quality care from St. Anthony's health care professionals – and it's conveniently located right in your neighborhood."
St. Anthony's Fenton Urgent Care is located at 714 Gravois Road at Highway 141 and Old Gravois Road. Arnold Urgent Care is at 3619 Richardson Square Drive, across from the Arnold 14 Cinema. Lemay Urgent Care is at 2900 Lemay Ferry Road, just north of Mehlville High School.
Big Bend Urgent Care is expected to open in July 2008.
