Affton Chamber of Commerce Publishes Business Directory
Booklet contains information on hospitals, schools, churches, senior citizen services, utilities, newspapers, elected officials and more.

The Affton Chamber of Commerce has published a Community Directory and Buyer’s Guide of local businesses available at no cost to the public.

“For over 14 years the chamber has been offering a Community Directory/Buyer’s Guide every two years as a service to the public,” said Rich Whited, chamber president. “Listings or advertisements are offered to all businesses in 63123, as well as all chamber members.”

The booklet is not only a business directory but also contains information on hospitals, emergency services, schools and churches, senior citizen services, utilities, newspapers, elected officials and license information. County and state phone numbers are also listed for residents to call about problems such as potholes, derelict vehicles, litter, weeds and property maintenance.

“The chamber had 6,000 copies of the directory printed. A directory was mailed to all 63123 businesses we have listed in our database, and to over 300 chamber members,” said Joan Edleson, the chamber’s executive director. “The directory is offered to all new residents when we mail a welcome packet on a quarterly basis.”

The business section is set up like the White and Yellow Pages. All chamber members received two free listings in the directory, and non-member businesses could pay a small charge to be included. Chamber members received free listings in an alphabetised section as well as by business category.

“The directory is not a complete listing of Affton businesses, but all businesses had the opportunity to be included in it,” Edleson said.
